· I decided that I would like my groups opening sequence to be unique in some sort of way, also we have used many of the typical codes and conventions of thriller films I also wanted to add some thing a little different to our piece.
· When we first started to edit in the sound we used 'jumpy' 'unhappy' and 'bewildering' music through out the whole of the opening sequence. After showing a few people the new music they said that they found it boring, so I decided we needed to add some diversity to the music used within our opening sequence.
· This was the point where I came up with the idea of having a non-diegetic music box playing in our opening film sequence. I came up with this idea because I was listening to a song called 'big dreams' by bow wow and I realized that this music box sound added the creepy effect that we wanted to create inside our opening sequence
· The music box music is a mixture of minor and major sounding harmony’s with a few clashing notes, this can make the audience feel disorientated this matches the emotions of the character that we see on the screen.
· I decided also decided that the music was best to start playing at the exact moment we realize that the 2 teenagers are in peril- or soon will be. This is the moment that Neeri picks up the newspaper, as she turns round to talk to her friend, the friend has Disappeared. This confirms the audience’s suspicions, which make it, perfect timing to start this new eerie music box sound.
