Doing this preliminary sequence was extremely helpful and very important for when it came to making our real video’s for as media
There are several things that I learnt from doing this task
Firstly I learnt how to use a camera! This is not as easy as it sounds, I learnt how to do different types of zooms and I realized that to get the best quality it would be best to use a tripod and slowly move the camera forward rather than just constantly zooming in and out of people’s faces – which is what we did in the preliminary sequence and it did not look great. I also realized that camera’s are very light sensitive , when we first tried to film the task the ‘blinds’ in the background made everyone’s faces shadowed and haunted , people appeared to dark in this type of lighting which is not the aim we was going for. We adjusted the light suitable so that we could see and appreciate expressions of the actors faces.
Secondly this task taught me that me some of the basic editing skills that our needed to create a good piece of media. It was hard to understand the technology and the technical terms but as a group we progressed to adding a black and white opening title scene and added a ‘to be continued’ at the end of our sequence.
However I also learnt some key skills that can be used not only within the media world. Personally I gained some leader ship skills because I took on the roll of filming and often I ended up doing a lot of directing during this time. I tried to work to my full potential so that I did not let the group down.
